Audi RS 6 and RS 7 Sportback gain a lighter, more powerful edition

Audi has rolled out a new Performance Edition batch of its RS 6 and RS 7 Sportback models. Both received a mild engine boost and lightweight body parts to sprint 0.2 seconds faster than stock.

The sales will start soon, and the prices will begin at €135,000 in Europe. Upgrading the turbo kit enabled the stock 4.0-liter V8 to gain 30 horsepower and 50 Newton-meters of torque for a total of 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque.

Outfitted like this, the cars sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and max out at 280 km/h (174 mph). Opting for a package called RS Dynamic Plus raises the bar to 305 km/h (189.5 mph).

In their most basic form, both the RS 6 and the RS 7 feature 4WS, tweaked steering and an eight-speed automatic transmission a different shifting logic. Removal of certain noise-proofing materials helped shed 8 kilograms (around 18 pounds).

Paid options include carbon-ceramic brakes (34 kg / 75 lbs lighter than stock) and 22-inch wheels (5 kg / 11 lbs less weight per wheel).

Buyers can now choose from two new matte finishes, and the black interior can now be specified with a blue secondary color instead of just grey or red.
