Video: EV. vs. ICE Audi race

The YouTube channel of UK-based car marketplace AutoTrader has posted drag racing footage starring two completely different AWD Audi cars – the petrol RS 6 Avant Performance and the all-electric RS e-tron GT. The latter is more dynamic but also heavier, so it lost the brake test.

Powering the performance estate is a four-liter V8 rated at 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. It weighs in at 2,075 kilos (4,575 pounds) and has an eight-speed automatic transmission that lets it hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds. The top speed lies at a lofty 290 km/h (180 mph).

The EV relies on dual motors that produce a nominal 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW), but can briefly go up to 646 PS (637 hp / 475 kW) in Launch Control mode. The torque maxes out at 830 Nm (612 lb-ft). The launch time is 0.3s shorter than that of the RS 6 Avant, but the maximum speed is capped at 250 km/h (155 mph). A heavy traction battery causes the e-tron to weigh 270 kg (595 lbs) more than its rival.
