ABT Sportsline has pimped out the diesel-powered Audi S4 TDI Avant. Let us see what is gained.
In its factory guise, the estate/wagon comes equipped with a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder diesel engine assisted by an electric supercharger AND turbochargers, which enables it to produce a respectable 347 hp (259 kW) along with 700 Nm (516 pound-feet) of torque. The car accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds.
ABT tunes the control chip so that the output raises to 384 hp (286 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft), and the sprint becomes 0.2 s faster (4.7 s).
The main visual distinction comes in the form of new 20-inch wheels, lowered suspension (you may choose between 15 and 40 mm, or 0.6 – 1.6 inches), and added roll stabilization.
The upgrade puts the S4 TDI Avant on par with the previous-gen gas-powered RS4, which packs a 4.2-liter V8 rated at 450 hp (336 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. The latest RS4 is more powerful than that and sprints faster (4.1 s), but the standard TSI S4 lags behind the ABT variant with its 4.9 s.
The tuned Audi S4 TDI Avant should be roughly at the same level of power as the upcoming Alpina D3 wagon, which should sprint faster than 4.5 s.
