We have already seen spy photos of the facelifted Audi A5 Sportback and S5 Coupe, but the S5 Sportback and S5 Cabrio have eluded the cameras until today. The convertible was spotted on a highway in a mountainous region, while the camo-cladded, sensor-laden liftback was caught on the North Loop. You can tell it is the S5 if you take a closer look at the covered logo and the round quad tailpipes.
Both cars sport new headlights similar to those of the latest Q8 Sport and e-tron GT. The turn, the cabin trim more or less corresponds to what we have seen in the A4 and S4, with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen display representing the biggest change.
It remains uncertain just what kind of engines the series will ship with. The European S5 lineup no longer ships with the old V6 3.0 TFSI mill rated at 354 hp (264 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. Instead, it comes with a new V6 3.0 TDI capable of 347 hp (259 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. On the other hand, the U.S. lineup remains gas-powered.
Audi will most likely introduce the S5 Sportback and S5 Cabrio facelift simultaneously with the refreshed A5.
