The standard 4.0 V8 version runs from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, which equals the result of the previous-gen S8 Plus, despite the latter being 34 hp (25 kW) stronger on paper.
Putting these numbers into perspective, the Euro-spec BMW M760 Li (G12) also performs the sprint in 3.8 seconds, while the Mercedes-AMG S 63 manages in just 3.5 s.
Part of the answer why the S8 is so impressively fast lies in its mild-hybrid powertrain, which automatically assists it during the initial acceleration. If you leave it on at all times, it will also save up to 0.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers traveled (mixed-use cycle).
Even in its most basic configuration, the sedan boasts active suspension, four-wheel steering, and a sports-grade differential gear. You may opt for carbon-ceramic brakes, 21-inch wheels, and seats with ventilation and massage functions.
