The CarWOW team has decided to see whether the performance-packed Audi S8 was really worth the asking price, so they drove it through a series of tests – and it performed exceptionally well.
The S8, which weighs in at whopping 2.4 metric tons (ca. 5,300 lbs), went from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 km/h) in mere 3.24 seconds instead of the manufacturer-promised 3.8 seconds. It then proceeded to hit 100 mph (161 km/h) in 8.09s and cover a quarter of a mile in 11.52s.
German manufacturers often tend to downplay the specs of their cars so that an average driver would be able to reproduce them without special training; it is now obvious that the latest Audi S8 is no exception.
The car debuted in its current form slightly over a year ago and comes equipped with a 4.0L V8 TT capable of 571 hp (426 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. All-wheel drive and four-wheel steering are included in the standard spec.
