In the spring of 2016, Audi unveiled the diesel-powered SQ7, which was the world’s most powerful off-roader in its own class with mountain-moving torque. The diesel had since been dropped in favor of a petrol engine, and an RS Q7 never came to be – so a tuner ushered it in instead.
The twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine of the latest SQ7 was massaged to deliver 558 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels, a roughly 10% increase over the stock values. As a result, the SUV managed to stand on par with the RS Q8 in terms of peak torque. It also learned to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 3.7 seconds, down from four-something seconds stock time.
Considering the sheer bulk of the comfort-focused utility vehicle, these results are not to be ignored. Watch the five-minute video if you would like a more detailed look at the project by Auditography and Polish tuner MG Motorsports.
