Rest your eyes on this nice Audi TT rebuilt to run on diesel fuel

The Audi TT is an iconic entry on the manufacturer’s sports car lineup, but this example from the USA harbors a secret under the hood.

For an unspecified reason, the former owner of the car felt it necessary to remove the stock 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from it and put a 2003 VW Golf TDI mill in.

The displacement and cylinder configuration did not change much, but switching from gasoline to diesel still necessitated a number of tweaks. The tuner put some ARP components in, BEW injectors, a high-end camshaft, suitable fuel pumps, and an aftermarket exhaust system.

As a result, the mill started to output 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW) and 461 Nm (340 lb-ft) of torque instead of its OEM-rated 131 PS (129 hp / 96 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft). A six-speed manual transmission was tasked with delivering the torque to all four wheels, and we would imagine it to be no worse than the original TT in terms of dynamics.

The tuned ride cropped up on sale with something like 122,000 kilometers (76,000 miles) on the odometer, but bidding never exceeded $11,900.
