According to TASS quoting Aurus Press Service, the Russian luxury automaker intends to make just 200 SUVs in 2023 using the facilities of NAMI and the Yelabuga plant.
In its strategy, Aurus takes after Bentley, which sold as few as 256 cars in Russia in 2021. Going forward, the carmaker plans to gradually increase its production targets.
The Aurus Komendant went into production in late November, a couple months after its premiere. The SUV shares the platform with the Senat sedan and comes powered by the same hybrid powertrain rated at 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW). Prices start from 33,700,000 Rubles (~485,000 USD).
In the meantime, the Yelabuga plant plans to dedicate the rest of the year to making more prototypes for tests. Actual market-ready cars will not be made until further into 2023.
