The Goodwood Revival classic car racing event that took place in the UK this weekend saw many exotic vehicles from different classes and eras get together on the same track, and everyone’s favorite Settrington Cup for children aged 4–10 was held, too. All cars are pedal-driven, but that doesn’t mean there’s no competition.
The participants of the Settrington Cup start in the same fashion as the pioneers of the professional motorsports did back in their time: racecars lined down the sides of the track, drivers standing in the middle. Once the start signal rings, the kids run to their cars, hop behind the wheel and start pumping those pedals.
All cars are technically identical Austin J40 replicas designed for pedaling. Using any drivetrain modifications is prohibited, so everyone starts off equal. The track is 225 meters (738 feet) long and has retarders along the way, forcing the children to steer around the obstacles.
