Avatr 07 aces crash tests in China

The upcoming Avatr 07 SUV has scored five out of five possible stars at C-NCAP, a crash test protocol focused on the Chinese domestic market.

The vehicle managed to earn a high rating of 93.18% for occupant protection, 81.40% for pedestrian safety and 93.23% for ADAS. It scored 90.2% overall.

Avatr submitted an all-electric variant of the car for the trials; the hybrid version hasn’t been tested. The C-NCAP routine includes a collision with a rigid obstacle (100% overlap), a head-on collision with a moving object (50% overlap), a side-on collision with a moving, deformable object, and a side-on collision with a utility pole. The agency that conducted the tests has yet to publish the individual scores.

Aside from these main metrics, C-NCAP evaluates advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on a 24-point scale and child passenger protection on a 3-point scale.

Avatr is a Chinese automaker co-founded between Changan, Huawei and CATL.
