Avatr – a car marque co-founded by CATL, Changan and Huawei – has launched sales of a large and powerful battery SUV called simply the 11 in China. Ordering is available from 349,900 Yuan.
The soft-roader rides on CHN unitized chassis and is nearly 4.9 meters long with almost 3 meters of wheelbase. The body is atypical for an SUV and resembles that of a four-door fastback (the tailgate opens separately from the rear window). It also has frameless doors with pull-out handles.
Physical buttons are virtually non-existent inside, replaced with a trio of touch-sensitive displays including a dashboard, a same-sized passenger’s screen and a large infotainment screen in the middle. Sitting behind it is a subwoofer in a novel housing.
The trim level defines the available rear seat configurations: for example, you can replace the bench seat with two separate ones with an impressively large console in the middle. Finally, paying extra gets you an all-glass panoramic roof.
The companies behind the Avatr brand proudly advertise it as a car brimming with self-driving features and driving assists. The specific level of autonomy is omitted for some reason, but you may be interested to know the car has as whopping three LiDARs, six radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 13 cameras and high-end processing hardware.
Powering the AWD ride is a dual-motor powertrain rated at 578 PS (570 hp / 425 kW). Sprinting 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) succeeds in under four seconds, and the top speed lies as high as 200 km/h (124 mph). You can settle for the standard 90.4-kWh battery and get 555 km (345 miles) of range or opt for a larger 116.8-kWh pack and get 680 km (422.5 miles).
Finally, there is a special edition of the Avatr 11, which is called MMW and was co-designed with the Creative Director of Givenchy. This one starts in the area of 600,000 Yuan.
