Avatr, a car brand founded by Changan and Huawei, had shown us some photos of the 07 SUV before, making it look like the main rival of the Tesla Model Y, but never revealed its motor specs. As it now turned out, the car is shaping up to be a formidable competitor with up to 590 PS (582 hp / 434 kW) at its disposal – more than the 534 PS (527 hp / 393 kW) of the comparable Tesla.
The sales will begin in the third quarter of the year. The Avatr 7 will arrive on its domestic market in two main flavors – hybrid and all-electric. The cheaper hybrid will utilize a 1.5-liter engine rated at 154 PS (152 hp / 114 kW) and a rear-axle motor capable of 310 PS (306 hp / 228 kW). The more expensive hybrid will benefit from a second motor driving the front axle. As a result, its combined output will reach 485 PS (478 hp / 357 kW).
Both hybrids come equipped with a 39-kWh battery pack sufficient for 178–188 km (110–116 miles) of range depending on your chosen configuration. Both max out at 190 km/h (118 mph).
The EVs are faster with a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). You can buy a single-motor/RWD spec and get 338 PS (333 hp / 249 kW) or go for a dual-motor/AWD one and get the 590 metric hp mentioned above. This is significantly more than the Tesla Model Y outputs in its flagship spec for China.
The batteries are provided by CATL and consist of LiFePo4 cells, but their volume and range numbers remain to be revealed.
