Changan-owned automobile company Avatr is testing a new coupe-like sedan known as the 08. It is expected to go on sale at the end of the year, Car News China reports while releasing some early spy shots.
You may have heard rumors about this car before, where it was called “Avatr E16”. “Avatr 08” has now been confirmed as its final production name. Despite the thick camo, there is no looking over how much the sedan takes after the flagship Avatr 12 (see video). Similarities include a slanted roofline, an inclined hood, pull-out door handles, a LiDAR on the roof, and five-spoke wheels. The mirrors look normal, but Avatr usually offers video cameras as a premium option.
Like all other vehicles produced by the company, the Avatr 08 runs on the CHN platform co-designed between Changan, Huawei and CATL. Like the Avatr 07 before it, it will be offered in EV and serial hybrid flavors, as well as a choice between RWD and AWD in both versions.
According to rumors, the 08 will become the brand’s cheapest car on the market and undercut the Tesla Model 3. It is expected to start from 230,000 Yuan.
