Multiple media have slapped the Aznom Palladium - a truck-turned-sedan from Italy – as the worst project of 2020, but it now turns out that people used to convert utility vehicles into saloons a while ago. Meet the Tropiclassic by Tropical Cabines, another vivid example.
Like their colleagues from the Apennines Peninsula, the Brazil-based tuners took a Ford pickup as a starting point for their project. However, whereas the clunky Aznom has an F-150 chassis at its roots, the Tropiclassic utilizes a more serious F-250 Heavy Duty platform. The truck bed is no more, and the entire rear end stems from a different vehicle (there is hardly any telling which one, because customers could apparently choose from numerous options). The tailgate and taillights stem from a first-gen Ford Focus, and the cabin enjoys a modest makeover while staying mostly stock.
Tropical Cabines records its history since 2001, and this particular conversion was carried out in 2007. Eight years after that, the company felt that all-custom projects were too cumbersome to carry out, and reduced the offer to just one standardized Tropiclassic model.
