BAC presents the 2nd-gen Mono single-seater

British niche carmaker BAC has unwrapped the next iteration in its Mono single-seater series. The barchetta-style vehicle sports improvements across the board, both visual and technical.

Compared to the old generation, the BAC Mono Mk2 has a different body shape, enhanced suspension geometry, new shock absorbers, and a more environmentally friendly engine.

Specifically, the old 2.5-liter naturally aspirated mill yields its place to a more ecological 2.3-liter turbo with 332 hp (248 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) at its disposal. This represents an improvement of 23 hp (17 kW) and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) over the old design. The curb weight amounts to mere 570 kilos (1,256 lbs), which is 10 kg (22 lbs) under the Mk1. The new tech enables the car to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.7 seconds and top out at 270 km/h (168 mph).

Visual novelty comes in the form of different rear body styling, side mirrors and headlights. The cockpit is minimalistic, with all the necessary instruments residing on the F1-style steering wheel.

Prices begin from £165,950. The first shipments are planned for early 2021.
