Chinese automaker gets a Jimny-like electric SUV ready to go

Baojun, a car brand co-founded between General Motors and SAIC Group, will be unveiling a concept of a small electric SUV at the Guangzhou Auto Show in a couple months. The teaser vid suggests it will look like the Suzuki Jimny.

The details are scarce right now. In all likelihood, the vehicle will be a crossover, rather than a full-fledged body-on-frame SUV like the Jimny. According to CarNewsChina.com, it will be riding on the same platform as the Baojun KiWi. However, while the KiWi has one electric motor on its rear axle, the SUV will allegedly be getting two motors and AWD. The output is estimated at 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW).

The video reveals what looks like a production-close concept car unlikely to change much before its Guangzhou premiere. Sales in China are penciled in for Q1 2023, but this is still not official.
