Bentley talks about its first BEV due out in 2025

Bentley’s first battery electric car is going to be a high-riding sedan, but we won’t be seeing it in its final form until at least 2025.

The company considers using the PPE architecture to produce it, the same platform Audi utilizes in its e-tron range. A large bottom-mounted battery array will necessitate elevated ride height, and the vehicle will strive to looks like the EXT 100 GT Concept shown in our gallery and the video here.

Bentley is hopeful that by 2025, traction batteries sized at 110 or 120 kilowatt-hours will become affordable enough for the mass market. A car with a battery like this should have more than 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range under most circumstances.

Once the new BEV hits the market, several other all-electric vehicles will follow, and the entire Bentley range will go green by the end of the decade. The company specifies that it plans to get rid of non-electrified cars in the range by 2026 or so.
