Bentley has come to the Monterey Car Week with Blower Jnr., a scale replica of its legendary pre-WWII production car, the Blower. In its latest incarnation, the vehicle is 15% smaller than the original from the year 1929 and seats two adult people. 99 units will be made in the pilot production batch called First Edition.
Bentley entrusted the project to The Little Car Company, a UK-based manufacturer of functional scale models of cars. Its portfolio lists many similar projects, including Aston Martin DB5 Junior and Bugatti Baby II, but the Blower Jnr is its first scale replica on record that’s actually road-legal.
Built with the 4 1⁄2 Litre Blower (Team Car No. 2) as the source of inspiration, the EV looks authentic wherever possible. This means it has a stainless-steel frame, leaf springs in the suspension and period-correct trimming materials. Still, being a modern car, it benefits from a carbon-fiber body and Brembo rotor brakes. The dash gauges and controls retain vintage appearances, but the underlying mechanisms are modern.
A 20-horsepower (15-kilowatt) electric motor on the rear axle only delivers its nominal torque in Sport mode, while selecting Comfort caps you at 2.7 hp (2 kW) and switching to Bentley sets the limit at 10.9 hp (8.1 kW). With the driver and a passenger inside, the car can cover 105 km (65 miles) on a charge. It is capped at 72 km/h (45 mph) in the EU and UK and at 40 km/h (25 mph) in the USA due to legislative limitations.
The base trim level includes a navigator, a reversing camera and USB ports. The first Edition trim adds a British flag ornament, a number 2 decal and special number plaques, as well as commemorative plates on the hood, side sills and dashboard. The exterior finish will be identical to that of Mulliner’s full-sized Blower continuation model running on petrol.
