Bentley EVs will look different, but stay recognizable, designer says

The British luxury automaker is wrapping up work on the exterior of its first full-fledged electric car. According to the company’s Design Director Robin Page, it will sport a distinct style setting it apart from Bentley ICE cars, but will stay true to the brand DNA.

The still-unnamed EV is scheduled for debut next year and sales launch in 2026.

Page, who had specialized in Bentley interiors so far, was only promoted to Director of Design last fall. He admits that most of the work on the EV had already been completed by that time. Still, he apparently had enough time to take part in the project and keeps supervising it as last-minute changes continue to be made to this day. Simultaneously, Bentley is conceptualizing its second and third EV generations.

Talking about the differences, Page pointed out that EVs do not need a traditional front grille. As such, the designers are free to play around with the front fascia and the headlights. The company believes that its firstborn EV has every reason to look and feel different from its classic cars. With that in mind, it is still being designed so that anyone would be able to throw a glance at it and say, “That’s a Bentley all right.”
