Hyman, a dealership specializing in vintage cars, has posted a sale ad concerning an exclusive 58-year-old Bentley S2. Produced in 1960 in Wendler car tuning shop, it wears a Mercedes-Benz body atop an elongated chassis. The seller wants at least U.S. $575,000 out of the deal.
The high price is partly justified by the fact that there are only six such elongated Bentley S2 cars in existence. This particular vehicle was built against a custom order by a client whose name is still being kept secret.
It is pretty obvious that Wendler went through a lot to build the vehicle. The engineers modified the Mercedes-Benz 300SE body and mounted it onto the Bentley S2 chassis, thus essentially creating an estate car. The only Mercedes parts the resulting vehicle had were the radiator grille, the headlamps, some body parts, and Heckflosse tailfin attachments.
The Bentley S2 used to be kept in a museum, but went through a complete restoration around five years ago. It received silver-grey body lacquering and contrast leather interior finishing with occasional oak veneer accents.
