British luxury carmaker Bentley intends to begin shipping a hybrid version of its Bentayga SUV before the end of the current year. The marque plans a complete switch to hybrid powertrains by 2023 and an expansion into EV territory starting in 2025.
The upcoming Bentley Bentayga Hybrid packs a 2.9-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor rated at 128 hp (95 kW). The car goes on electric power until you hit the gas pedal, whereupon the traditional engine kicks into action.
According to the manufacturer, nature-friendly driving is fairly limited in terms of maximum speed (135 km/h, or 84 mph) and range (50 km, or 31 miles).
Prices will start from €165,000.
