All W12-powered Bentleys prepare to say goodbye

Bentley will mark the permanent discontinuation of its W12 cars with the launch of the Speed Edition 12, a limited series of each of its current models – the Continental GT, the Bentayga and the Flying Spur. Only 120 vehicles will be made in total, each bundled with a miniature replica of the legendary twelve-banger.

All cars will correspond to the Speed spec and get up to 659 PS (650 hp / 485 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque out of their 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12.

The main novelty will arrive in the guise of black exterior accents, 22-inch wheels and silver brake calipers – a first for Bentley. A purpose-designed green-grey exterior shade known as Opalite will be offered for the first time, too. As per the tradition, there will be badges and commemorative plaques all around to highlight the exclusive status of the car. The air vents inside will wear the number ‘12’, and the dash panel trim will be decorated with a sequence of numbers corresponding to the sequence of cylinders firing in the W12.

The engine replica will be 85% smaller than the real thing and devoid of moving parts. It will be cast from the same aluminum that the company uses at its cylinder block manufacturing lines, and will become a fitting decoration of a home or work interior.

According to Bentley, the twelve-pot mill will go out of production for good in April 2024.
