Bentley Bentayga to race to the clouds

New Zealand-born racing driver Rhys Millen will be piloting a custom-modded Bentley Bentayga in an attempt to set a new high score in the SUV category at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race beginning this Sunday, June 24.

It took six months for the Bentley engineer team to build and polish the vehicle. The special edition received a roll cage, serious anti-roll stabilization and hi-end air suspension. Most of the interior options have been thrown out, resulting in a weight reduction of 300 kg (660 lb).

The Bentley Bentayga also got a new carbon body kit, including a rear wing, side skirts, a diffusor, and a front splitter. The hood cover opens to reveal a 12-cylinder gasoline engine capable of well over 600 hp / 447 kW. The car accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.1 seconds and is likely capable of exceeding 300 km/h (187 mp/h) when speeding along in a straight line.

As mentioned above, the Race to the Clouds will commence on Sunday, June 24. In order to set a new world record, Rhys Millen would need to finish the 20-kilometer (12.42-mile) long track and arrive at the Pikes Peak summit in 12 minutes 35 seconds or faster.
