Piloting a Bentley Bentayga, professional racing driver Rhys Millen has set a new record in the SUV category of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race that took place last weekend. The car manufacturer will be issuing s special limited series of the vehicle to commemorate the victory.
The Race to the Clouds was attended by a mass-produced copy of Bentley Bentayga with only minor racing-friendly modifications such as no noise proofing, less interior equipment, a new roll cage, bucket seats, a fire extinguisher and a racing body kit along with other similar things. The 12-cylinder, 600hp / 450 kW strong Bentayga engine, however, remained completely intact.
The special edition will be called Pikes Peak. Color choices will be limited to black and green. The exterior of the vehicle will sport black details adorned with the Pikes Peak logos instead of chromed ones. All wheels will be dual-tinted.
The interior of the series will make intensive use of leather, chamois and carbon. The right side of the dashboard will carry a scheme of the entire Pikes Peak racetrack with its 156 curves.
The company will begin processing pre-orders in August. A total of 10 cars will be produced; prices remain unknown.
