After success in 2018, Bentley intends to participate in another Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Race this year and set a new world record competing in the “Production Car” category. The company is already working on a Continental GT famous professional racing driver Rhys Millen will drive to the clouds by on June 30, 2019.
The new Continental GT comes powered by a twin-turbocharged W12 engine churning out up to 635 hp (474 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lbft) of torque. Linked to an AWD system and an eight-speed automatic transmission, it enables the car to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and ultimately surpass 330 km/h (205 mph).
A Bentley Bentayga piloted by the same driver in 2018 updated the Pikes Peak record in the SUV category. Rhys Millen has managed to cover almost 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) of the extremely challenging mountainous road two minutes faster than Paul Dallenbach did with his Range Rover Sport. The best time in the SUV category is now 10:49.9.
To commemorate the victory, Bentley has released the Bentayga Pikes Peak Edition sporting an exclusive black and vivid green livery.
