Bentley announces Mulsanne W.O. Edition, premieres late in August

The car manufacturer Bentley will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary. To that end, it will issue a special branch of its Mulsanne sedan series, called “W.O. Edition”.

The vehicles were designed in cooperation with the car design & tuning shop Mulliner. The letters “W” and “O” in the name of the series are an homage to Walter Owen Bentley, the founder of the company. Each sedan will be sold with a unique part taken straight from Walter Bentley’s own car.

To be more specific, each vehicle will ship with a small part of the crankshaft taken out of the Bentley 8 Litre that once belonged to Walter. The part will be put into a rear-seat glass holder of the car.

The Bentley 8 Litre was the last vehicle model personally developed by Walter for his company 88 years ago.

The cocktail glass holder in each of the cars will be carefully hand-made from polished metal, aluminum and as many as four rare wood species. It will bear an encrusted image of the headlights and radiator grille of the Bentley 8 Litre. The crankshaft part will be concealed in a special illuminated niche accessible via a glass door.

The anniversary series will debut late in August at the Monterey Car Week.

Bentley will only produce 100 Mulsanne W.O. Edition cars. Prices will be announced separately.
