Bertone GB110 bows in Monaco

Coachbuilder Bertone has come to the recent auto show in Monaco with a final version of the GB110 supercar it previewed in sketches two years ago. It burns synthetic fuel made from reprocessed plastic waste and is coming to the market limited to just 33 units.

The company said before that the car would be based on a mass-produced chassis, but never supplied any details. It is generally believed to be the Lamborghini Huracan, but the GB110 looks completely different. The main similarity is the 5.2-liter V10 under the hood, which Bertone modifies to work off a special blend of fuel derived from hard polycarbonates.

This, plus some zealous turbocharging and other modifications, enable the mill to output 1,100 PS (1,085 hp / 809 kW) to the wheels and generate up to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. Equipped like this, the coupe hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.79 seconds, doubles that acceleration in another 4 seconds and triples it in 14 seconds. The speed ceiling is at 380 km/h (236 mph). The transmission is of a seven-speed dual-clutch type and drives all four wheels.

Bertone neglected to mention any pricing details and the sales start date. It did praise its creation as “a true designer artwork” and said customers would be able to personalize their orders however they like.
