Bizzarrini encodes its founder’s birth date in engine volume, of all things

Resurrected Italian car brand Bizzarrini has shared new information regarding its first, all-new production car – The Giotto, a mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive hypercar named after Giotto Bizzarrini and powered by an unusual V12 engine.

Sketches and teasers of the car cropped up in early 2023, but this time around, the company revealed some actual photos of it along with engine details and launch date.

We learned a while ago that The Giotto would draw its power from a naturally aspirated V12 mated to an eight-speed DCT. The company has now confirmed that the engine was custom-fabricated by Cosworth and is compliant with the strictest emission standards. The massive mill was developed as a homage to the original V12 that Bizzarrini designed for Lamborghini.

A fun Easter egg is hidden in the displacement volume: 6,626 cubic centimeters can be read as 6/6/26, or June 6, 1926 – the birth date of the talented engineer.

Other than that, the car has a composite chassis and a custom carbon-fiber body designed by GFG Style (Italy). It is being advertised as a GT hypercar, but performance details are lacking at the moment. The slim headlights hearken back to the twin slits in the 1960s-era car hoods. Triangular pillars are another 5300 GT reference. The company says it has spent the past six months testing the whole in the wind tunnel.

Road tests are set to begin in late 2024, and the first deliveries are expected in early 2026.
