The Australian subdivision of BMW has released the Finale Edition of its rear-wheel-drive M140i hot hatchback. The car series will make a permanent switch to the front-drive FAAR platform in its next generation. In the meantime, the limited series goes on sale priced at slightly under 63,000 Australian dollars.
By default, the Finale Edition 1-Series ships with adaptive LED headlights, M Sport performance brakes, adaptive suspension, leather-draped interior and Harman/Kardon audio system. Further features include panoramic glass roof, blacked-out lighting and radiator grille, and wireless phone charger.
The series comes powered with a 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 340 hp (254 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lbft) of torque. Linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, it can accelerate the car 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.6 seconds.
In its upcoming new generation, the BMW 1-Series will be available with the 2.0-liter engine of the X2 M35i SUV (306 hp / 228 kW). A hybrid trim will also be offered based on a V4 turbo and an electric motor for 400 hp / 300 kW total output.
