British auto parts supplier BMW & Mini UK Group has attempted to redesign a BMW M140i to look like its senior cousin, the M2. Similarities extend as far as the fenders, bumpers, wheels wrapped in 245/35 R19 and 265/35 R19 rubber, exhaust tips and mirrors.
The 1 Series got to keep its four-piston brakes at the front and two-piston ones at the rear end. The engine also stayed stock, because the swap to the M2 mill was deemed too much of a hassle compared to just boosting the B58 mill the M140i comes with. Multiple opportunities exist in this regard, such as using kits by Litchfield (456 hp, 597 Nm), G-Power (440 hp, 590 Nm) or Manhart (435 hp, 644 Nm).
The entire conversion cost around £20,000. Only one car was built, but project leader Dave Campbell feels like kicking off a small series.
