Newer BMW 1 Series cars often act as magnets for criticism due to their front-wheel drive design, but the marginally more expensive M135i xDrive retains its 4WD formula. It is for this model that German tune-up shop dÄhler Competition now offers a mild performance upgrade.
The stock 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot produces 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. A certain amount of persuasion takes it to 348 PS (343 hp / 256 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). Acceleration times remain unknown, but the non-tuned car can still do 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds and hit its speed ceiling only at 250 km/h (155 mph). The dÄhler tuning kit raises the latter threshold to 265 km/h (164.7 mph).
Your other options are 114mm (4.5”) wide exhaust ceramic-coated tailpipes, an active exhaust flap, normal and adjustable suspension springs, and 20-inch forged wheels that weigh 30 to 35 percent less than their OEM counterparts.
