The 1-Series hatchback is a staple model in the German automaker’s lineup, and here are the first spy photos suggesting it is about to receive an extensive update.
The five-door hatch is completely covered in camo that distorts its true shape, but some bits and pieces can be discerned all the same. The headlights are more rounded and slim than the current model, and the radiator grille looks the same or only marginally larger than the old one. The rear bumper and the taillights have also been retouched slightly.
We cannot peek inside the cabin at this time, but it should offer the later version of the iDrive 8 infotainment system and a digital dashboard with large gauges.
Changes are expected in the engine range as well: a new PHEV spec should complement the current lineup. An all-electric 1-Series is only set to debut in the next generation, though.
