Powering the tame BMW 1-Series to the performance level of the maxed-out M5 CS seems like a silly idea, but tuning exists to make dreams real. The owner of this hatchback kept going until he boosted its engine to 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW).
The stock B58 inline-six block remained under the hood, but its power is nowhere near the original 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW). Replacing a number of engine bay components initially drove it to 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW), but the tuner went all-out and added a Pure800 turbo to the mix along with a Beast exhaust system. The next measurement saw the crank being hit with 567 PS (559 hp / 417 kW).
Further tweaking and fine-tuning of the software helped raise the output by another 50 horses. Finally, filling the tank with a 70/30 mix between gas and ethanol let the power soar to the unthinkable 730 PS.
