BMW may say the M140i xDrive is an entry-level hatchback, but a potent inline-six engine, manual transmission and all-wheel drive make it a capable driver’s car. Our today’s guest is an example tuned to 480 horsepower.
The tuner used an XHP Stage 3 kit to improve the efficiency and switching speed of the transmission. They also tinkered with the engine control unit and swapped the OEM exhaust for an Akrapovic one. The above measures proved sufficient to convince the six-pot to pump out 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) along with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.
When tested by AutoTopNL, the car proved its mettle by reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.68 seconds and proceeding to hit 200 km/h (124 mph) in another 8.63 seconds. Watch the full eight-minute drive to get an idea of how fast this particular 1-Series is.
