BMW is preparing to release an updated coupe

The Bavarian automaker BMW decided to change the abbreviation GTS to CSL, and also announced some characteristics of the car, which will first acquire a new nameplate. This car will be a prototype, assembled on the basis of the BMW M2, which will be called the M2 CSL.

According to the information that appeared in the media, the "charged" coupe will be favorably different from its predecessor with less weight. To do this, the company will replace some of the body parts with carbon analogs, remove everything from the interior design that does not differ with increased functionality, and the rear row of seats is planned and completely removed, replacing them with a safety cage.

BMW M2 CSL will get a V6 engine with a turbocharger and a volume of 3 liters. The motor will be able to produce 400 horsepower, and a pair of it will be either a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 7-step "robot". Also on the novelty will install an updated suspension and a powerful braking system.

As stated in the company, the idea to launch the upgraded version of the M2 on the market was stimulated by the increased popularity of the "base" version of the coupe. About when the novelty will go to the series so far nothing is known.
