Judging from the body kit, badges and the compact-sized rear spoiler, this is an M Performance vehicle. Its German number plate seems to support the theory that it is indeed a pre-production unit.
The biggest surprise comes in the form of the radiator grille, which lacks the overblown nostril-like styling of all recently revealed BMW cars.
The BMW G42 range should hit the market next year, replacing the 2014 generation shown in the promo video here. Market observers believe that BMW will drop the affordable 2 Series Convertible from the lineup to protect the sales of its Z4 Roadster.
