New BMW 2 Series Coupe coming this summer

BMW confirmed that the coupe variant of the next-gen BMW 2 Series would premiere and then go into production in late summer 2021. It also posted a few official photos of the model.

While the four-door Gran Coupe uses the UKL2 chassis and front-wheel drive system, its two-door counterpart will stick to the classical CLAR platform. Near-perfect weight distribution and a 12% stiffer-than-before body are on the promises list along with enhanced aerodynamics and more robust suspension links.

If you omit the M2, the M240i xDrive Coupe will be the highest-power spec with its turbocharged six-pot and 374 PS (369 hp / 275 kW). An eight-speed automatic transmission will drive the rear wheels through an active M differential in the back. The old-gen M240i is 34 PS (34 hp / 25 kW) less powerful.

All coupe models will ship with their suspension tuned for an optimum balance between comfort and sports. Adaptive chassis, electronic shocks and adjustable steering will be available as paid options.

The all-electric iM2 model will be next to arrive.
