Car spies have already shown us what a camouflaged BMW 2 Series Coupe looks like, and visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 8-11 will be able to see it in its full glory at the BMW M Town booth sitting next to the most powerful BMW M vehicle ever.
The next generation will retain its usual AWD system. The range-topping M240i xDrive will benefit from a turbocharged inline-six engine rated at 374 PS (369 hp / 275 kW), a sports-attuned eight-speed automatic gearbox, and an M differential at the reat end. The humbler 230i spec will utilize a 2.0-liter turbo-four and round exhaust tips instead of trapezoid-shaped ones.
Other promised features include a more rigid body, a wider track, and better aerodynamics with a 50% reduction in rising force at the front end. The newfangled nostril grille will not be present, and the interior will be styled like that of the FWD 2-Series Gran Coupe.
The production is set to begin this summer, but the hottest M2 version won’t arrive until next year.
Also announced for the BMW booth at Goodwood is a new M5 CS, which will participate in a hill climb race.
