There are still a few months before the launch of the new BMW M2, but the M240i isn’t a slouch itself. A recent video from Carwow demonstrates just how well the model fares when lined up against a higher-spec, higher-priced Audi RS5 Sportback on the drag strip.
The M240i xDrive utilizes a three-liter inline-six turbo rated at 378 PS (373 hp / 278 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. In turn, the Audi makes use of a 2.9-liter V6 TT capable of 455 PS (450 hp / 336 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. Eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD are common points between the two.
The only visible advantage the Bavarian has over its Ingolstadt rival is the curb weight, which makes 1,690 kilograms (3,725 pounds) versus 1,735 kg (3,825 lbs). It isn’t much, though. How do you think the two will match? As usual, watch the video and find out!
