BMW 2-Series Coupe gets a mid-life refresh

After three years in production (see video), the latest-gen BMW 2-Series has now received its first facelift. It includes new body color options and trim accents – chrome comes standard, while black is reserved for the flagship versions. The production starts in August.

There are now more steering wheel designs than ever, and which one you get depends on your chosen spec and option packages. Like all other recent BMWs, the new 2-Series features illuminated climate vents and runs BMW 8.5 OS. The company promises users improved performance and a more intuitive UI.

The main display unit composed of screens sized 12.3 and 14.9 inches across is not exactly new, since it was introduced two years ago. Other than that, BMW has gotten rid of most physical buttons and knobs in the new version.

Like before, you can choose from a wide range of petrol and diesel engines two and three liters large. The entry-level 218i spec churns out 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW), while the range-topping M240i sends 374 PS (369 hp / 275 kW) to all four wheels. Eight-speed automatic is the only transmission option on the menu.

The production will take place at the same factory in Mexico where BMW is making the 3-Series.
