A photo has been posted to Instagram allegedly showing the camo-free next-gen BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. The image as a whole looks like a presentation slide, so it could be real.
Judging by the compact van pictured, the second generation will have roughly the same outlines as the previous one while getting sportier styling cues. The front fascia looks like the other recent BMWs, including the polarizing nostril grille and slim headlights. The caption claims it is a 223i Active Tourer spec with M Sport package installed.
Earlier spy photos also revealed horizontal LED taillights and a trunk lid with an integrated spoiler right under the rear window. The interior was not shown, but a large curved display like in the BMW iX and the latest iDrive interface are high on our expectation list.
The van comes based on a modernized version of the UKL platform, which will later power the next-gen X1 and X2 models. It supports three- and four-cylinder engines with 1.5 and 2.0 liters and displacement, as well as FWD and AWD. A plug-in hybrid variant should also be available.
Production is set to begin in November. The larger Gran Tourer van has been discontinued, but the new Active Tourer itself has grown up in size, so it might be big enough now to phase out the Gran Tourer.
