BMW introduced the original iNEXT Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2018. Work is now in full swing on a production version of the car, which should assume the top position in the BMW i range.
Based on the latest spy shots, the fake radiator grille will be smaller than initially planned, and the doors will be styled in a more standard fashion. There is little doubt that conventional side mirrors will ultimately replace the video cameras. As for the windshield gently sloping into a panoramic glass roof and the thin LED headlights, these will likely make it to the assembly lines.
It is official that the iNEXT will be based on an all-purpose vehicle architecture reportedly equally well-suited for ICE-powered cars, BEVs and hybrids. That said, this particular model will be strictly electric and therefore a rival to the Audi e-tron.
Latest rumors also claim the car will get a giant 120-kWh traction battery for up to 580 kilometers (360 miles) of range.
