According to unofficial sources, the upcoming BMW i4 EV will get an engine rated at 530 hp (395 kW) and an 80-kWh battery. It will allegedly sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in around four seconds and max out at 193 km/h (144 mph).
Topping up at a 150-kW charging station will take 35 minutes (from 0 to 80%), and once fully charged, the compact car will offer around 600 kilometers (373 miles) of WLTP-rated range. Since it comes based on an innovative platform that makes combining multiple engines easy, chances are good that it will pack multiple electric motors instead of just one.
We will not know whether any of this is true until BMW launches the i4 in 2021. We expect the Tesla Model 3 to provide it with most of its market competition.
