BMW has voiced its plans to outfit their new X2 Crossover with a stronger engine. Official sources state that the “upgrade” will only apply to MPerformance series sports cars but not to the “charged” BMWX2 M model.
The car will receive an updated 2.0L V4 engine with the index B48A20T1. The modified car will be marketed as BMWX2 35ixDrive. According to experts, the updated engine will be rated at 300 HP and be compatible with either manual or automatic transmission.
It is expected that newly produced BMWX1, BMW 1-Series and BMW 2-SeriesGranCoupe will all gradually shift to the upgraded version of the engine. No mention was made as to when to expect the upgraded BMWX2.
