Renowned German car brand BMW has held an official presentation of its two latest cars, the BMW i8 Roadster and BMW i8 Coupe. Interestingly, both models are powered with hybrid engines.
The vehicles are based on a platform which makes extensive use of carbon and aluminum. Both the BMW i8 Coupe and the BMW i8 Roadster are driven by a 1.5-liter V3 turbocharged engine which outputs 231 hp. Add to this a 143-horsepower electric motor, and you’ve got a hybrid engine with 374 hp.
The coupe version makes 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.2 seconds, while the roadster needs 4.4 seconds to do the same. Both cars peak out at 250 km/h.
Style-conscious buyers of BMW i8 Coupe / BMW i8 Roadster cars also get an improved navigation system as well as the interactive BMW Display Key showing current service information.
