BMW continues testing its fuel-free 3 Series sedan: camera-wielding car spotters once again discovered a camo-clad prototype running around without visible exhaust pipes, but with an “Electric Test Vehicle” sticker on.
It remains a matter of speculation just how BMW is going to name its latest model. It would be logical to continue the current naming trend of iX3 and i4 by calling it “i3”, but that name is already taken by a production hatchback that isn’t going anywhere soon.
The Bavarian rival of the Tesla Model 3 should celebrate its market debut when the 3 Series gets its scheduled mid-life update in 2022 or so. By all indications, it will come closer to the modest iX3 crossover SUV in terms of specs and equipment than to the expensive and sporty i4 4-door Coupe.
On a side note, the recently launched iX3 – which you can see in the video here – has already garnered controversial reviews. Reviewers compared it against the Tesla Model Y, pointing out its lackluster acceleration dynamics and poor battery life.
