The famous BMW E30 continues to be regarded as a perfect car in the “affordable premium” segment, and lends itself rather well to customization. New projects crop up on a daily basis, but this one strikes us as exceptional in many ways.
According to cars.co.za, the 3 Series was originally acquired in terrible condition with body falling apart and rust everywhere. It was handed over to a workshop for a full restoration, where it surfaced that the wiring was all bad, too, to the point when throwing it away was the only viable option.
Making the build unique was a Toyota 1UZ eight-banger under the hood, which usually accompanies luxury-laden Lexus cars. The engine received a supercharger, a nitrous oxide injection system and a Spitronics ECU before it could function as intended, but the result surpassed all expectation.
Further modifications included aftermarket brakes, an all-new dash gauge cluster, a redesigned center console, and a full body kit. A robust-looking roll cage was added for greater stability.
Was the titanic effort worth it? Don’t even doubt it! In the nine-minute video, you can learn everything about this truly unique project, and we’ll just say we haven’t seen anything as impressive as this in months.
