BMW 3-Series spied testing in police uniform

A recent bunch of spy shots reveal a facelifted BMW 3-Series wagon running pre-production tests in a police car wrap. Care to take a look?

Other than the blue-white-and-neon-green color scheme, slightly redesigned headlights and retouched dashboard, the model looks identical to the vanilla 3-Series. In reality, however, it gets a number of suspension modifications to account for a higher curb weight police cars usually have.

To get a better idea about the facelifted 3-Series, you may throw a glance at the recently introduced all-electric i3 model for China (see the attached video). The exterior will be very similar between ICE and EV versions. Where the i3 differs significantly is the powertrain: it makes 285 PS (281 hp / 210 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, launching itself to highway speed in 6.2 seconds.

It remains to be announced when the updates 3-Series family gets its official premiere, but “later this year” would be an accurate way to put it.
