This unique E21 BMW 3-Series made debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month. The Bavarian automaker did not participate in the project, which was carried out by a team of enthusiasts with a lean towards FIA Group 5 aesthetic.
The car comes based on a custom frame and has next to zero original parts remaining, instead using a number of 5-Series components. These include shock absorbers, a six-speed manual transmission and a naturally aspirated V8 producing around 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW). Air suspension helps it ride lower on most roads while highlighting the golden Rotiform wheels in the arches. Vivid exterior graphics complements the retro look and references BMW’s own art car projects.
Of course, no show car can realistically expect to avoid getting a body kit at some point, and this 3-Series is no exception. The set includes a new front bumper with a giant splitter, flared fenders and a robust-looking rear wing. Exhaust pipes now run down the sides, and the cabin is stripped clean except for a couple of bucket seats, racing harnesses, a quick-release steering wheel and a fire extinguisher.
How do you like this 3-Series?
